Targeted nourishment for those who suffer with Eczema, Psoriasis & Xerosis
Dry skin is a common condition that can be temporary or lifelong. There are many causes of dry skin including changes in weather (colder months are a usual cause), the environment in which you live, your overall health and even your age. If left untreated, dry skin can develop into atopic Eczema, Xerosis or become infected.
Symptoms of dry skin are:
- A feeling of skin tightness, especially after showering,
- bathing or swimming,
- Skin that feels and looks rough,
- Itching (pruritus),
- Slight to severe flaking, scaling or peeling,
- Fine lines or cracks,
- Grey, ashy skin,
- Deep cracks that may bleed.
Psoriasis is a separate condition from dry skin and affects 1-2% of the world’s population. As an auto-immune condition, Psoriasis is considered a life-long (chronic) skin condition that can have a major impact on daily activities and way of life – especially in a major flare up.
At Mckenzies Compounding, we offer a product called Mckenzies Dry Skin Treatment. As this medication is specifically compounded by us, we were able to include ingredients where studies have proven they may be effective preventing or reducing the severity of a flare up.
Mckenzies Dry Skin Treatment may help combat dryness by replenishing the lamella bilayers of the skin and may also help to restore the skin’s barrier to prevent water loss, nourish the skins structural integrity and may improve the appearance of the skin by reducing redness, dryness, swelling and inflammation which commonly associated Psoriasis.
Mckenzies Dry Skin Treatment may also help to regulate the production of pigment in the skin, helping to reduce pigmentation, dark spots and creating an even skin tone. Due to the barrier protection of Mckenzies Dry Skin Treatment, it can be used with common APIs (Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients) and can potentially improve the delivery of the active ingredient as it is not able to be washed away.
We are able to liaise with your doctor or dermatologist to help find a suitable option for your own, individualised skin care.
Mckenzies Dry Skin Treatment is formulated without these ingredients, making it suitable for most skin types and allergy sufferers:
We also recommend using these tips in conjunction with Mckenzies Dry Skin Treatment for optimal results:
- Use a moisturizer without any added scents,
- Have warm baths and showers, not hot,
- Limit your time swimming in pools and the sea as prolonged exposure can dry out the skin,
- Use rubber gloves when exposing your hands to chemicals and detergents,
- Avoid using soap in the shower and try alternatives with added moisturiser.
