    Compounding for Physios


     Mode of action: Nitric oxide (NO) mediates activation of satellite precursor cells to enter the cell cycle. This provides new precursor cells for skeletal muscle growth and muscle repair from injury or disease. Recent studies have revealed that there was a strong increase in muscle satellite cell activation and proliferation, demonstrated by a significant 38% rise in DNA synthesis after a single treatment with guaifenesin 10% in Lipoderm base for 24 h.Indication: Most applicable in muscular dystrophy and age-related muscular atrophy.

    Directions for use: To be massaged into the affected areas daily.

    Side Effects: Side Effects with this treatment are rare but may include dizziness, headache, rash, nausea, vomiting and stomach upset.

     Contraindications: Sensitivity to guaifenesin

     Magnesium Chloride 10% in Lipoderm Base and Magnesium Chloride 10% / Peppermint 1% Topical Cream

     Mode of action: Trandsdermal magnesium chloride therapy enhances recovery from athletic activity or injuries. It reduces pain and inflammation while propagating quicker regeneration of tissues. Topical application of magnesium chloride increases flexibility, which helps avoid injury. It also increases strength and endurance. The combination of heat and magnesium chloride increases circulation and waste removal. Rapidly replaces depleted magnesium systemically to levels not achievable by oral magnesium.

    Indication: Ideal for pain management, diabetic neuropathy and inflammation.

    Directions for use: To be massaged into the affected areas daily.

    Side Effects: Side effects with this treatment are rare and may include, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea and rash

    Contraindications: Individuals with kidney disease should not use this treatment without the direct guidance of a medical doctor. Individuals that suffer from hypermagnesemia and have sensitivity to magnesium chloride should avoid this treatment.
