• Antiretroviral (HIV) Therapy

Mckenzies Chemist is proud to announce that we now stock antiretroviral therapy (ART)

Antiretroviral therapy is highly effective at suppressing the growth of the HIV virus, allowing patients to manage the infection.

In the past, this medication was only available through hospital pharmacies.

Since becoming available on the PBS through community pharmacies in 2015, Mckenzies has catered for the needs of our clients in Perth that take antiretroviral therapy and we now offer a complimentary delivery service for those in the Perth metro area.

If you are not in the Perth metro area, we also offer a complimentary postage service within WA!

There are 4 prescribers in the community that can prescribe antiretroviral therapy, all of which are conveniently located next to Mckenzies Chemist in Mount Lawley.

To find a prescriber, visit: Current WA Health approved HIV s100 community prescribers

There are various forms of antiretroviral therapy, we stock the most commonly prescribed antiretroviral therapy in Perth but we will happily order in anything that we don’t normally stock, just for you!

All you need to do is keep your prescription on file, order through the Medadvisor app (available on most platforms) and request it to be delivered or posted, we will do the rest!

Please note: If you are unable to use the Medadvisor app, we can still help you order your antiretroviral therapy and will still honour the complimentary delivery or postage of it within WA!

What about Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) & Post-Exposure Prophylaxis (PEP)?

    • PrEP is not currently TGA-licensed and is not currently available in Australia on the PBS. Due to these restrictions, community pharmacists cannot supply PrEP.
    • PEP is also unavailable from community pharmacies. People requiring access to PEP will need to be medically assessed within 72-hours of exposure. Please contact RPH Sexual Health Clinic (9224 2178), Fiona Stanley Hospital (6152 2222) or PEP Line (1300 767 161) for further information.
